APRIL FAVORITES, 2016

Monday, May 02, 2016

Last month I decided against doing a favorites post, because I felt I didn't have a lot to talk about - the case is opposite this month, as I had so much to share that I had to cut a few bits out! I loved chatting about my goals last month though, so stay tuned for later in the week when I'll be sharing those as well! But for now,
APRIL FAVORITES
1. CLINIQUE DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT MOISTURIZING LOTION+
I know, I know. I go on about this product probably about once a week. But I finally purchased the full sized bottle, and, if possible, have been loving it even more this month. I'll save you the babble and just tell you to go buy it. Nuff said.

2. SALLY HANSEN SALON MANICURE NAIL POLISH IN "SHEER ECSTASY"
It's Event Season, my favorite time of the year (except exams) (those aren't fun), and this nail polish has been getting me through it. Because I work regularly in sinks (cafe-worker perks! XP), and colored nail polish chips almost immediately upon my arrival, I've found that wearing a nice pale pink manages to skirt around this issue. Groundbreaking, right? This is my favorite "nude nails" shade.

3. ASQUITH AND SOMERSET ENGLISH ROSE MOISTURIZING SOAP BAR
Normally a bar of soap is as dull as...well, a bar of soap. ;) But the scent of this one - oh my - is heavenly. It truly smells of roses. No, not that dusty grandmother-rose, true rose. Don't be deceived by the packaging.
It's such a rare scent to find done well in a bar of soap, that I was extremely pleased with this one. Apart from the fragrance, it's generally a nice bar of soap - nothing extraordinary really, it does the job - but the fragrance makes all the difference.

4. REVLON ULTRA HD MATTE LIP COLOR IN "SEDUCTION"
I did a full review of this product in this post, but in case you missed it, this new arrival from Revlon is beautiful. Like my neutral nail polish choice, this has been my go-to neutral lip choice, to go with prom dresses and work clothes alike. ;)

5. VINTAGE-STYLE WATCH NECKLACE
You know I'm not much of a vintage person (unless it's designer) but when we received these lovely watch-necklaces as a gift at Senior Toast last weekend I was definitely not mad. XD I mean who wouldn't want a tiny watch on a chain, made just modern enough to be wearable, but all-in-all like a piece of the past, to carry with you? I can't wait to style it with a blazer and tee. I think the contrast would be wonderful.

6. KATE SPADE TAXI IPHONE 6 HARD CASE
Last but most certainly not least is this adorable phone case from Kate Spade. I'd been wanting to get something from the brand for a long time - I mean it's kind of the preppy-style touchstone, and while I'm not 100% preppy, I do have my moments. ;) I had placed this taxi case in my basket a couple months ago, and just left it there. Kinda forgot about it, actually. Then about a month ago I saw it go on sale, about half off. "Okay," I thought, "definitely have to buy this now." But I was running out somewhere, and so I left it and forgot about it. Then, 2 weeks ago I got another Kate Spade ad, this time with a 25% off coupon code. And free shipping. I bought it the next day, it arrived last week, and I've been in love ever since.

It makes me want more than ever to travel. I don't really see that as a bad thing.

What did you love this month? Any movies/books/tv shows/coffee/makeup I ought to check out?

Also, how crazy is it that it's May already?

  1. You already know that I love your new phone case, but I might as well tell you again ;)
My loves this month: 1) I've recently discovered that I can make my own iced coffee without emptying the bank at Starbucks. 2) My best friend recently gifted me the perfect red lipstick: Velvet Merlot from Milani. 3) We've been rewatching BBC's Sherlock.

  2. #4, I have that same formula in three different shades and ADORE them. They're one of the rare, non-lipstains that I actually wear. ❤︎

    1. ps: also I have both a wallet & purse from Kate Spade (❤︎ ❤︎ thankyouflashsales ❤︎ ❤︎) and it was money well spent! my carpel tunnel affects my shoulders and out of all the different bags/satchels I've tried, my kate spade purse rarely ever bothers me when I wear it. i had a kate spade case there for a while too but the bumper liner was a cream color and my jeans eventually discolored it (naturally); otherwise, great case with some nice longevity.

    2. The formula of those lipstains *is* wonderful, isn't it?

Ooh. I want to see more of your Kate Spade things!

  3. That case is the bomb.com. Oh my word. I love Kate Spade. She encapsulates...the spirit of feminine fun, I think. I always like your favorites round up, as it gives me something to try myself. Clinique, though. 'Spensive, Lucy.

    1. Why thankya girl! :)
Amen to that. I love Kate Spade novelty bags the best...

'Spensive, but so worth it. ;) Fortunately, that large bottle will likely last me until October, if not the rest of the year, so actually not too bad a bargain. XP

  4. I LOVE Clinique's moisturizer! And I need to check out that Revlon lip color!

Kate Spade is fabulous! I wouldn't consider myself preppy either, but her designs carry a large amount of sophistication and playfulness that I can't help but love them!

This month I loved watching The Blacklist. It is such a gripping show! Also, Clinique's Chubby sticks in Curviest Caramel and Super Strawberry! They are so perfect for the no-lipstick-lipstick look!

    1. Yes, do!

That's exactly why I love Kate Spade - who says I can't wear a flowerpot purse and still be a sophisticated adult woman?? ;)

I'm gonna take a peek at those Clinique chubby sticks! You know I'm all about that no-lipstick-lipstick look. ^.*
