I can't believe I haven't shared a style file on Olivia Palermo! Her style is something I've been a long-time fan of, and I always love attempting to recreate her high fashion looks if I feel I want to stretch myself sartorially.
It's hard to really pinpoint Olivia's style. Unlike some of the women I've done features on in the past, she doesn't really have one signature "look". She's an everything girl, a maximalist, and an eclectic dresser. There are still, however, a few recurring themes in her choices, and that's what I want to spotlight today!
1. LARGE-FRAME SUNGLASSES
Any day, any weather, OP has got some type of fabulously large sunnies on her face. Most often, she's got a pair of reflective lenses for maximum eye-privacy, but whatever the style, they always add a classy touch of mysteriousness to even a simple outfit. Steal her style here...
2. STATEMENT JACKETS
An Olivia Palermo essential. I feel like her style really shines in the colder months, when she often can be spotted sporting a cool-girl bomber, or the piece de resistance of fashion, the fur jacket. Faux, of course. Yet even in the summer she finds a way to work in this trend, sporting light-colored brocades and sleeveless leather numbers. Steal her style here...
In order to understand Olivia's style, you have to understand her sense of adventure! She's not afraid to play with trends long before they've been tried and tested, playing with all sorts of silhouettes and textures, patterns and fabrics. The key to pulling off a daring look like OP? Confidence! If you feel good in what you're wearing, you'll look good in it too.
Even amidst her high-fashion outfits and wild colors and vintage bags, Olivia always manages to keep things classy. By balancing where she shows skin (short skirt; high neckline // low neckline/sleeveless; more leg coverage), she proves that with skin in fashion, less can truly be more. Because there's nothing stylish about looking trampy.
Sometimes the best way to reset your style-palette is to go neutral for a day or two! Olivia proves that even the best sartorialist among us needs a break from wild fur coats and alligator shoes by paring it back to basics, still done in an intentional way. And for the task? Nothing beats some good old denim. Steal her style here...
Olivia Palermo is nothing if not glamorous. For every red carpet event she can be found in an amazing outfit, often with elements of tulle or lace. And of course, no ballgown is complete without a jewel-encrusted clutch. The style secret to learn here? When in doubt, overdress. (Everyone will just assume you have somewhere nicer to be afterwards. ;)
